Brenda – University of Texas at Austin

Brenda graduated Magna Cum Laude from Nolan Catholic High School in May 2011. She was named an AP Scholar, inducted into Senior National Honor Society and was an International Ambassador.  She double majored in Government and Spanish at The University of Texas at Austin and graduated in May 2015. She is currently in law school in south Texas.

Looking back, I don’t think I could have ever accomplished what I have if it had not been for my private school education. Not only did my schooling challenge me so that I grew, but it has taught me the value of education. Through the STAR Sponsorship Program I learned just how important education is. Education is the vehicle that takes you on the road to success. Education is what allows for a better future; not only for the student, but for the world. Education breaks down barriers. I come from a family where my parents did not attend college. Due to the quality education I have received, I can succeed in college and hopefully one day my children will also go to college. I am so happy, grateful, and humbled that my younger cousins look up to me as a role model. Through my example, they can learn that they too can accomplish anything they set their minds to. Thanks to my sponsors, the doors of opportunity have opened wide!”
