When I was a little kid, I thought of a star as a little twinkling dot in the sky. I would always wish on a star every night. Even though my wishes did not come true, I never imagined I could be a STAR myself and work at making my dreams come true. But I could not do it alone.

The S.T.A.R. Sponsorship Program has been by my side from the beginning and will continue to benefit me until I have succeeded in what I started.  Someday, when I have succeeded in my goals, I will tell my children to never give up and shoot for the stars. I know they will think the same thing I did – a twinkling dot in the sky will pop into their mind. But I will tell them my story and then they will know the true meaning of being a STAR.

Carly Aguirre graduated from Our Lady of Victory Catholic School. She then graduated from North Crowley High School Cum Laude and was named a Texas Scholar in May 2015. She took dual credit courses and completed 18 college credits with a 3.0 GPA. Carly played softball all 4 years and was a Varsity player for 3. She worked a part-time job for two years of high school. She served as a volunteer Youth Leader at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and became a sponsor for Confirmation. Carly is a proud recipient of the Hacemos Scholarship. She is currently attending UTA, majoring in Business Marketing with a Minor in Psychology.
