“Being in the S.T.A.R. Sponsorship Program means I have a second family.  The program has helped me meet more people who share the same goal, to get a higher education. The program has united my family who has always encouraged me to do my best, my teachers who carefully watched my progress in school and warned me when I was heading for trouble, and my sponsor who has helped me to become responsible for my own success.  It is great to know that I am not alone. I have learned to be grateful for the time and effort that my second family has provided me.  The relationships I have formed with these special individuals has only furthered my will to learn, and to grow both mentally and spiritually throughout the years.

Through the help of my second family – Mr. Philpott, the S.T.A.R. Program, and my school, I am proud to say that my future looks bright. I hope not only to exceed their expectations, but mine as well.”

Alexis has also expressed a desire to go into the medical field and is contemplating acquiring his Bachelor of Science at the University of Texas at Arlington.
