Inform and Inspire

23 August

On Saturday, August 2nd, close to 300 students and their families attended the 2014 Annual Parent/Student Meeting. The meeting’s purpose? “Inform and Inspire!” New students and their parents were introduced and welcomed to the STAR family. The program’s requirements and expectations were discussed.  Testimonies from alumni and parents about their experiences with the program provided much  insight as to the possibilities and opportunities that lay ahead.

We also used this opportunity to present returning students with awards for their accomplishments from the previous school year.  Certificates were presented to students who achieved  Perfect Attendance, Outstanding Achievement (for students who achieved A/B Honor Roll) and Prolific Correspondence. 23 students had straight A report cards the entire year and were noted as STAR Superstars!

The large gathering of parents on a summer Saturday morning was a strong indicator of the sacrifices they are willing to make for their children’s future. New and returning parents were visibly eager to begin this new school year knowing a greater opportunity for their children lay just around the corner.

A glimpse into the dedication these parents have for their children's education.

We had many wonderful volunteers who arrived early to ensure that this meeting would be another success! Alumni STAR students and their siblings, parents, and friends gave of their precious time to help. The meeting was successful due to their collective efforts. We are so very grateful for their generous giving of their time and diverse talents.  They also exemplify the importance of giving back to something that has given them an opportunity for a better future.

We would like to thank all who helped make this year’s meeting possible.

Keep reaching for the STARS!
